Notes

'Duncan' slender deutzia (Deutzia gracilis 'Duncan') is a shrub for borders, hedges, cottage gardens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Fragrant flowers open on arching stems in early to late spring, and hummingbirds and birds visit the blooms. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It also tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Bridal wreath spiraea, David garden phlox, and Japanese forest grass.
