Notes

'Eastern Star' carnation (Dianthus 'Eastern Star') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to average soil of most types. It blooms in early to late spring and again in early to late summer, and bees and butterflies visit the fragrant flowers. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The plant is evergreen and drought tolerant.

Pairs well with Coneflower, Tussock bellflower, Lavender, and Blue fescue.
