Notes

'Exception' iris (Iris 'Exception') is a bulb for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. Jan Heere bred it, and the flowers have dauphin's violet standards and sulphur yellow falls with a cadmium orange blotch. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It blooms in spring and again in summer.

Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Avens, and Feather reed grass.
