Notes
False purple thistle (Eryngium leavenworthii) is an annual for borders, meadows, and low maintenance gardens. This plant likes full sun to part shade and dry to moist soil of most types. Purple flower heads with spiny bracts bloom on purplish stems and draw bees, and birds eat the seeds. It sits low on the menu for deer. Wear thick gloves when you cut the flowers, because the spiny leaves and bracts are stiff.
Pairs well with Silver feather grass, Common poppy, and Blue beaked yucca.
