Notes

'Fortune' apple (Malus domestica 'Fortune') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Roger Way bred it in 1995. Fortune is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination. The fruit ripens late in the season, and bees visit the spring flowers.

Pairs well with Rhubarb, Garlic chives, and The President clematis.
