Notes

'Fortuniana' forest gardenia (Gardenia jasminoides 'Fortuniana') is a shrub for borders, containers, specimens, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 8, or down to 10°F (-12°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. It grows 71 to 94 inches tall and wide with a dense, evergreen habit. The fragrant blooms open in spring and again in summer, and they draw bees.

Pairs well with Star jasmine, Little Gem southern magnolia, Mexican petunia, and Calla lily.
