Notes
Fox's grape fritillary (Fritillaria uva-vulpis) is a bulb for borders and containers, and it needs little care. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Nodding, bell-shaped purple flowers with golden yellow tips open in early to late spring, and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. The shiny green leaves grow on stems up to 18 inches tall.
Pairs well with Greig's tulip, Grape hyacinth, and Gardenia peony.
Native range
E Turkey, N Iraq, and W Iran.
