Notes
Fritillary (Fritillaria raddeana) is a bulb for borders, naturalized areas, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. Tall stems carry whorls of lance-shaped leaves, then end in a tuft of green bracts with hanging greenish-yellow bells. Plant the bulbs on their sides so water does not collect in the bulb cavity. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal.
Pairs well with Ostrich fern, Sedge, and Comfrey.
Native range
Iran, Turkmenistan, and western Himalayas.
