Notes

'Gallant Rogue' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Gallant Rogue') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The fragrant, semi-double pink flowers have dark purple flares and open in early summer. Each stem holds one bud, and the blooms sit well above the light green foliage. John and Dot McFarlane introduced it in 2001.

Pairs well with Elegans hosta, Mock orange, Stella de Oro daylily, and Greig's tulip.
