Notes

'German Winter' thyme (Thymus vulgaris 'German Winter') is an herb for rock gardens, containers, ground cover, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or chalky soil. It is the standard winter-hardy thyme, and bees and butterflies visit it. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. The fragrant leaves stay evergreen, and the plant tolerates drought and salt.

Pairs well with Berggarten sage, Phlox, and Calamint.
