Notes
'Girard' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Girard') is an evergreen shrub for borders, containers, and hedges. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun or part shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Red and purple flowers open in early to late spring and attract butterflies and hummingbirds. Rabbits tend to pass it by. It grows 48 to 72 inches tall and wide, so give it room.
Pairs well with Lady fern, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Rainbow's End hosta.
