Notes

'Goldgefieder' ox eye (Heliopsis helianthoides 'Goldgefieder') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clump with double yellow blooms in early to late summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the flowers, and it tolerates drought.

Pairs well with Goldsturm black-eyed Susan, Nodding onion, and Sedge.
