Notes

'Gravetye Beauty' texensis group (Clematis texensis 'Gravetye Beauty') is a vine for borders, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Small, lipstick red, tulip-shaped flowers face outward from July to October, and silky seed heads follow in autumn and winter. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Francisque Morel bred it.

Pairs well with Purple Coneflower coneflower, Blue fescue, and Obsidian coral bells.
