Notes

'HABsf1007' Japanese forest grass (Hakonechloa macra 'HABsf1007') is a grass for shade gardens, woodland settings, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. It grows slowly into an arching mound 12 to 18 inches tall and 18 to 24 inches wide. It is not a favorite of deer, though hungry deer will eat almost anything. The foliage also shows fall color.

Pairs well with Lungwort, Lady fern, and Lily of the valley.
