Notes

'Hakuho-shishi' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Hakuho-shishi') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. You can cut the stems and bring them indoors for arrangements in a vase. Its name translates as White-checked Lion. Sakata & Co. bred it in 1931.

Pairs well with Weigela, Greig's tulip, Prairie dropseed, and Tiger lily.
