Notes

'Half Pint' switchgrass (Panicum virgatum 'Half Pint') is a grass for borders, accents, rain gardens, and winter interest. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to wet, sandy or clay soil. It forms a tidy clump about 33 to 36 inches tall with dark pinkish-red blooms and fall color. Butterflies and birds visit, and it tolerates drought and salt. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal.

Pairs well with Standing Ovation little bluestem, New Jersey tea, Red twig dogwood, and Shirley Temple peony.
