Notes
'Halo Lilac' viola (Viola cornuta 'Halo Lilac') is a perennial for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a clumping, evergreen mound about 12 inches wide, and the fragrant flowers attract butterflies, bees, and birds. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. Blooms appear in spring, summer, and autumn.
Pairs well with Ballade tulip, Burgundy Glow bugle, and Fringed bleeding heart.
