Notes

'Hetz Midget' American arborvitae (Thuja occidentalis 'Hetz Midget') is a shrub for borders, containers, rock gardens, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 2, or down to -50°F (-46°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist soil of most types. It grows slowly into a dense, evergreen mound about 3 to 4 feet tall, and the fragrant foliage attracts birds. Deer rarely make it their first choice. Little pruning is needed to keep its shape.

Pairs well with Red fescue, Rosea lily of the valley, and Pearly everlasting.
