Notes

'Illini Warrior' peony (Paeonia 'Illini Warrior') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, cottage gardens, and specimen planting. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Elizabeth Glasscock Falk bred it, and its tall, rugged stems carry fragrant single red flowers with yellow centers. Deer and rabbits usually look elsewhere for a meal. The blooms attract butterflies and bees.

Pairs well with Pyrethrum, Annabelle hydrangea, and Blonde Ambition blue grama.
