Notes

'Janice Smith' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Janice Smith') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. William Brown bred it in 1952. The full double blooms are rose-red, open in mid to late spring, and have a pleasing fragrance. The foliage is fine too.

Pairs well with Fringed bleeding heart, Woolly yarrow, Ostrich fern, and Picture tulip.
