Notes

'John Elsley' bloody geranium (Geranium sanguineum 'John Elsley') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. Carmine red flowers appear in spring and again in summer, and butterflies and bees visit them. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. The leaves turn color in fall.

Pairs well with Sedge, Carlton daffodil, Pyrethrum, and Hosta.
