Notes

'Joyous Red' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Joyous Red') is a perennial for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears deep rose-red bomb-shaped blooms in early to mid spring, one bud per stem. The stems are strong and the plant reaches about 30 inches tall. Roy G. Klehm bred it in 1998.

Pairs well with Siberian squill, Ostrich fern, Grape hyacinth, and Musk mallow.
