Notes
'June Giant' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'June Giant') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It blooms in late spring with huge dark red flowers that look nearly double because the few stamens are well hidden. The stems are good and strong. Edward Auten, Jr bred it in 1941.
Pairs well with Lungwort, Garlic chives, Arrowwood viburnum, and Bells of Ireland.
