'Kallay Compacta' Chinese juniper (Juniperus chinensis 'Kallay Compacta') is a shrub for borders, specimens, hedges, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average soil of most types. Deer rarely make it their first choice. It stays evergreen all year and grows at a moderate pace. It tolerates drought and salt.
