Notes
'Kenrei-mon' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Kenrei-mon') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Purple blooms with carmine-red shading open in early summer. The name means Gate of Kenrei, and The Chugai Nursery introduced it in 1932.
Pairs well with Inkberry, Clematis, Christmas fern, and Grape hyacinth.
