Notes

'Kobe' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Kobe') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It is a Japanese type with rose-pink outer petals and a ball-shaped center of buff staminodes backed with rose. The blooms open early, in early to mid spring. Ernest Flint Kelsey bred it.

Pairs well with Bellwort, Japanese spirea, Picture tulip, and Ostrich fern.
