Notes

'Latvian Rain' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Latvian Rain') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Dr. Arūnas Balsevičius bred it. The fragrant, single, purplish-red flowers open in mid to late spring and face upward. The upright plants reach about 33 inches and carry finely cut, yellow-green foliage, so they need no support.

Pairs well with Dalmatian bellflower, Ostrich fern, Sedge, and Picture tulip.
