Notes
'Lucifer' montbretia (Crocosmia 'Lucifer') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, pollinator gardens, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and average to moist soil of most types. Scarlet red flowers open from early to late summer and draw butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It grows up to 48 inches tall and tolerates drought.
Pairs well with Ox-eye daisy, Japanese forest grass, and Hardy hibiscus.
