Notes

'Manhattan' oriental poppy (Papaver orientale 'Manhattan') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist soil of most types. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. It forms a clumping mound and tolerates drought. Bees, butterflies, hummingbirds, and birds visit the blooms in spring and summer.

Pairs well with Iris, Ostfriesland sage, and Lady's mantle.
