Notes

'Martha' peony (Paeonia lactiflora 'Martha') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. The double pink flowers have many small inner petals and rounded guard petals that hold the form. Strong stems hold the slightly fragrant blooms, which reach 5½ to 6 inches wide. William Henry Krekler bred it.

Pairs well with Smooth hydrangea, Black Hero tulip, Western sword fern, and Japanese spirea.
