Notes
'Melissa' lavender (Lavandula angustifolia 'Melissa') is a perennial for borders, cottage gardens, rock gardens, and pollinator gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and sandy or loamy soil. Van Hevelingen bred this fragrant lavender, and its pink flowers draw butterflies and bees from early to late summer. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Its grey-green leaves stay on the plant through winter.
Pairs well with Magnus coneflower, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, and Black-eyed Susan.
