'Midnight Fragrance' iris (Iris 'Midnight Fragrance') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, containers, and cottage gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist soil. The violet-black blooms are fragrant and open in early to late spring and again in early to late summer. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It is also drought tolerant.

Pairs well with China Town tulip, Pinky Winky panicle hydrangea, and Mount Hood daffodil.
