Notes
'Molière' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Molière') is a shrub for borders, perennial beds, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Its blooms are carmine-red and white, so they add bold color to a mixed border. You can also cut them for bouquets and bring that color indoors. Auguste Dessert introduced it in 1906.
Pairs well with Incrediball hydrangea, Liberty hosta, Blue fescue, and Carnaval De Nice tulip.
