Notes
'Monrey' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Monrey') is a shrub for shade gardens, cottage gardens, cut flowers, and foundation plantings. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Pink blooms edged with white appear from early to late summer. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows fast to about 48 inches tall and wide, and it tolerates salt.
Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Autumn fern, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
