Notes

'Nancy Lindsay' carnation (Dianthus pavonius 'Nancy Lindsay') is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to moist, loamy soil. The fragrant purplish-red flowers have white fringe and open in spring and again in summer. It is not a favorite of deer or rabbits, though hungry ones will eat almost anything. The foliage stays evergreen on plants that grow 6 to 9 inches tall.

Pairs well with Woolly yarrow, Karl Foerster feather reed grass, Greig's tulip, and Blue grama.
