Notes

'Nittany' apple (Malus domestica 'Nittany') is a tree for the food garden. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It is grown for fresh eating and culinary uses. Bees visit the spring blooms, and the fruit picks late in the season. Penn State University bred it from York Imperial and Golden Delicious.

Pairs well with Burnet, Grape hyacinth, and Hyssop.
