Notes
'Nobilis' red-hot poker (Kniphofia 'Nobilis') is a perennial for borders, cut flowers, and containers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Butterflies, hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the tall flower spikes, which open in summer and again in autumn. Deer and rabbits tend to pass it by. It is drought tolerant, salt tolerant, and evergreen.
Pairs well with Shasta daisy, Hummingbird's mint, and Buffalo grass.
