'Nong Yuan Mu Lan' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Nong Yuan Mu Lan') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. Fragrant, light reddish purple double flowers open in early to mid spring. Each bloom has dark purple flares and ruffled inner petals. The upright stems need no support.
