Notes

Nuttall's sunflower (Helianthus nuttallii) is a perennial for low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun and average to moist, loamy or clay soil. It blooms in late summer and again in early to late autumn with yellow petals around brown centers. Butterflies, bees, and birds visit the flowers. It can reach about 94 inches tall, so give it room at the back of the bed.

Pairs well with Feather reed grass, Red-hot poker, and Casa Blanca lily.
