Notes

Oldwoman (Artemisia stelleriana) is a perennial for borders, rock gardens, and ground cover. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Its woolly gray and silver leaves are coated in dense white hairs that reflect sunlight and insulate the plant. Yellow flowers open from early to late summer and attract butterflies and bees. Deer rarely make it their first choice.

Pairs well with Blanket flower, Little bluestem, and Paprika yarrow.
