Notes

Big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentata) is a shrub for xeriscape gardens, hedges, and low maintenance beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full sun and dry to average, sandy or loamy soil. Its small silvery leaves have a sweet, pungent smell and give a blue-gray look. Deer tend to pass it by. Prune out old stems now and then to refresh the plant.

Pairs well with Rubber rabbitbrush, Antelope bitterbrush, Showy beardtongue, and Blue grama.
