Notes

'Otaksa' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Otaksa') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, specimen planting, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 6, or down to -10°F (-23°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. It forms a mounding shrub with blue flowers from early to late summer. Acidic soil with a pH of 4.5 to 5.5 keeps the blooms blue. Deer tend to browse other plants first.

Pairs well with Abiqua Drinking Gourd hosta, Aureola Japanese forest grass, and Lady fern.
