Notes

'Penny Mac' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Penny Mac') is a shrub for borders, cottage gardens, shade gardens, and cut flowers. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer usually look elsewhere for a meal. It grows fast into a mounding shrub that reaches 4 to 6 feet tall and wide. Blue flowers open from early to late summer and again in early autumn.

Pairs well with Lady fern, Liberty hosta, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
