Notes

'Pewter Lace' painted lady fern (Athyrium niponicum 'Pewter Lace') is a fern for borders, rock gardens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. The gray-green fronds have silvery accents and dark maroon midribs. Deer and rabbits tend to browse other plants first. Silvery color mellows to green as the season goes on, and light shade shows the best frond color.

Pairs well with Liberty hosta, Woodland phlox, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
