Notes
'Pia' bigleaf hydrangea (Hydrangea macrophylla 'Pia') is a shrub for borders, containers, cottage gardens, and shade gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to wet, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Deer tend to browse other plants first. It grows 24 to 36 inches tall and wide, and it carries pink blooms from early to late summer. It also tolerates salt.
Pairs well with Japanese forest grass, Christmas fern, Blue Angel hosta, and Katsura tree.
