Notes
'Prince of Midnight' tree peony (Paeonia suffruticosa 'Prince of Midnight') is a shrub for borders, cut flowers, and perennial beds. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun, average moisture, and loamy soil. It bears single purple wine flowers with a circle of gold stamens in late spring. The large leaves are medium green with bronze tints. John and Dot McFarlane introduced it.
Pairs well with Wild geranium, Christmas fern, and Greig's tulip.
