Notes

'Purple Splendor' rhododendron (Rhododendron 'Purple Splendor') is a shrub for borders, specimen planting, shade gardens, and woodland settings. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes part sun to full shade and average to moist, sandy or loamy soil. Deer and rabbits rarely make it their first choice. It stays evergreen and bears purple flowers in early to late spring. Hummingbirds, bees, and birds visit the blooms.

Pairs well with Woodland phlox, Wide Brim hosta, Lady fern, and Aureola Japanese forest grass.
