Notes

Red huckleberry (Vaccinium parvifolium) is a shrub for borders, hedges, and low maintenance gardens. It is hardy to USDA zone 5, or down to -20°F (-29°C). This plant likes full sun to full shade and dry to moist, sandy or loamy soil. White to pink flowers draw pollinators, and bright red fruits follow. Birds enjoy the fruits, and butterflies use the plant as a larval host. Water it well for the first few summers while it settles in.

Pairs well with Salal, Subarctic ladyfern, and Dwarf rose.
