Notes

'Redfield' apple (Malus domestica 'Redfield') is a tree for the food garden, grown for culinary use and juice. It is hardy to USDA zone 3, or down to -40°F (-40°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Dark pink flowers open in early to late spring and attract bees. The New York State Agricultural Experiment Station bred it in 1938. It is not self-fertile, so plant a second apple nearby for pollination.

Pairs well with Sweet cherry, Thimbleberry, Carlton daffodil, and Queen Sophia French marigold.
