Notes

'Rubinette' apple (Malus domestica 'Rubinette') is a tree for the food garden, grown for fresh eating. It is hardy to USDA zone 4, or down to -30°F (-34°C). This plant likes full or part sun and dry to moist, sandy, loamy, or clay soil. Walter Hauenstein bred it. The fruit has an intense, honeyed flavor, and bees visit the spring blooms. Thin the fruit heavily so the apples grow to a good size.

Pairs well with Juneberry, Grape hyacinth, and Trumpet honeysuckle.
